Do Diet Plans & Diet Menus Really Work? The answer is not always clear.

Some diet plans and menus will work real well for some people, but this doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that they will work well for everyone. The key thing to think about here is really the principles that the diet plan is based on and how long you can stick with the program!

Diet plans & pre-organized menus can be really helpful from two main aspects.

Firstly, they can take away a lot of the stress associated with choosing and planning the food you are going to eat. Follow the plan and it is all there for you.

Secondly they can be really helpful getting the actual weight loss you want, because the diet plan has hopefully been carefully looked into and developed with a person’s nutritional needs taken into account. So it could actually be healthy as well.

Both of these help to eliminate some of the problems associated with diets…the choice of what to eat and when to eat it, and in what combinations…so we stay healthy through the dieting process. We need to not only stick with a certain number of calories per day, we also need to make sure that we get the right balance of protein, carbohydrates, fat, minerals etc.

Let’s say you try out a low carb or low fat diet plan with a good reputation. Your diet plan tells you exactly what you should and shouldn’t be eating and it may even have a specific menu that you can follow if you like. Dieting solutions that are well thought out and that have a solid basis of healthy rather than fad eating can be really successful.

But, things might look pretty different if the diet plan or diet menu you look at are based on "shakier" foundations. Let’s say that as an alternative you decide to try out some new, never-been-tried-before high protein diet shakes and you use the shakes as a replacement to one or more meals a day. This can be a great way of losing a few pounds over a few weeks, but can you eat like this forever?

Chances are you can’t and as soon as you stop mixing up the shakes and start eating a regular diet again the pounds will start creeping back on. It may well only be a temporary solution.

One of the drawbacks of some diet plans is that the food or meal list only covers a short-time period, say two weeks, so it can also be darn hard to stick with repeating the same food day in day out for weeks and then maybe months on end. Let’s face it, a few weeks of sticking to any boring and repetitive diet plan will drive most of us crazy and craving any food but diet food.

So look for diet plans with a good balance of food types, lots of variation, demonstrated success and a great reputation.

What’s The Perfect Diet Food?

Your body has extremely complex nutritional needs and to eat a healthy diet you need to give it exactly what it needs. Every day your body needs the correct balance of carbohydrates, proteins, fat, vitamins and minerals…and it would be great if there was one single food that could do all this!

To be honest there isn’t really one diet food that will give you a perfect solution here. Now you might hear some claims from people that they have discovered the “perfect diet food”. Whilst their product may well be very, very good it really isn’t possible to find perfection in a single product. So, you have to look at including a range of foods based on a healthy diet plan, and not just one “perfect” food.

A lot of people run into diet problems because they get convinced that the one-food-diet is the best way to lose weight. They read all the testimonials and pseudo scientific ‘facts’ behind these dieting solutions and really do start to think that they’ve found the Holy Grail of diets.

But, eating one food or food type might not be as good as it sounds.

You CAN live on a fruit diet, a vegetable soup diet, a high protein diet or a raw food diet. For a while at least…but none of them are the perfect diet food. You’ll most likely see some weight loss but the chances are your body won’t be getting the wide range of nutrients that it really needs. And, as many others before you have found, you may not feel so great living the one-food-diet life.

And there can be issues with single food diets. You can feel bloated, run down and irritable, for example. Some side effects will also make you less than nice to be around. I’m sure I don’t have to go into detail about what eating a large amount of cabbage day in and day out will do for you and the people around you now do I?

So, rather than looking for the one perfect diet food, maybe you should be looking for the perfect combination of healthy diet foods.

You are far more likely to see consistent dieting results if you eat a balanced, healthy diet composed of different food types. This way you’ll give your body exactly what it needs and you could also see some real weight loss benefits into the bargain.

Are There Diets And Dieting Help That Cut Out The Confusion
And Make It Easy For You To Lose Weight?


Do you think it’s easy to lose weight?

To be honest you probably already think it isn’t...which is why you might be looking for a diet to try and help you along.

Problem is, finding an effective diet is just as hard, if not harder, than losing the actual weight. Sometimes, there’s just too much information to go through before you can find a diet or dieting solution that suits you.

Take our friend Melissa. Melissa has always been on the heavy side but over the last couple of years she’s piled on quite a lot of weight. Her doctor told her recently that she is bordering on becoming obese and that she ought to do something about it.

Now the doctor doesn’t know Melissa as well as we do. We could have told him, for example, that Melissa doesn’t really need to be told to lose weight. She knows that already. She’s tried diet after diet after diet but has never found one that still works for her after a couple of weeks.

She was real upset after her appointment with the doctor. He didn’t really give her any specific advice on what to do so she went online to try and find a way of losing weight. She told us that the online solution wasn’t as simple as she had hoped, and she just didn’t know which way to go -- there were plenty of diets to choose from but she got so confused with what they told her that she didn’t know where to make a start.

Guess this is one of the major problems about choosing a diet. Each diet company wants you to pick them so they’ll throw all kinds of information at you telling you how great their diet is. They’ll also sometimes pick apart every other diet and tell you why it doesn’t work. And, if you read around a little you’ll be told different stuff by lots of different diet companies.

It’s no wonder Melissa got so confused. She ended up not knowing who to believe and which solution would be the best one for her.

As anyone who knows Melissa will tell you, what she needs is a diet that isn’t going to starve her. The diet and dieting solutions that have left her hungry in the past have never worked and she’ll be the first one to admit she has no real willpower when she’s hungry. She also can’t cope with fad diets that emphasize one food type over another as she gets easily bored.

What she really needs is a low maintenance diet or dieting solution that will keep her feeling full (and happy!) but that helps her eat the right foods to take the weight off…and stop the pounds piling back on again.

Have You Found Your Eat More, Lose More Diet Yet?

Many people can find a successful dieting solution…by simply eating more. Sounds great doesn't it!

Now you might think that the whole point of a diet is to eat less so you lose weight, but this doesn’t have to be the case. The way that you lose weight isn’t just about how much food you eat, it’s also about how your metabolism works and the messages that your diet food gives it to make it work harder and to minimise issues like fat conversion.

If you’ve ever been on a diet before that hasn’t worked for you in the long term, then I’ll bet that you were really encouraged to start off with. But, after that initial few weeks where your weight just fell off you probably found that you hit that wall – and no matter how you stuck to your weight loss diet, you stopped losing as much weight as quickly. Everything just slowed right down.

This can be all down to your metabolism.

If you go from an irregular junk food diet that is high in calories to a healthy diet (as so many of us do!) then the first few weeks of eating healthy diet food sends your metabolism into overdrive.

But, once you’ve lost this initial weight your metabolism seems to stabilise and slow down again…as will your weight loss, if it doesn’t simply grind to a complete halt.

So, if eating good healthy food won’t necessarily give you longer term success, what are you missing? How does eating MORE actually help?

Well, it’s really quite simple.

It isn’t about eating more with every single meal, and therefore overeating. It’s about having smaller meals, more often, and regular healthy snacks during the day.

If you eat healthy food on a little-and-often basis (say 5 or 6 times a day instead of the standard 2 or 3 meals we are used to), then you can teach your metabolism to work harder and better process what you eat. If you only give it enough fuel to last until the next meal then it will use that food up as energy rather than store it as fat.

So, technically, because you eat less but more often, you can end up eating more overall…and lose more weight because your body is doing all the work for you!




Do Diets And Dieting Have To Be Hard – Or Can You Find An Easier Way Out?

Are you addicted to diets and dieting?

You may feel that way if you find yourself regularly starting and stopping diet programs without getting anywhere fast.

And the diet industry must really love us at the end of the day, because for every person who hits the jackpot and loses weight (and doesn’t see it come back again) there must be hundreds or thousands of people who can’t get the result they want.

A lot of the time people seem to just find it too hard to give up the foods they like and to radically change their eating habits. You might have all the best intentions in the world but you can’t just tell your cravings for the food you normally eat to go away.

So, you may mean to stick with the diet you choose.

You might put all your junk foods and anything unhealthy in the garbage and fill your kitchen with real healthy things.

You might know on a reasonable level that you need to be strong.

But, when the cravings come … and they come again and again … it can be hard to ignore them.

A lot of us will simply give up and decide that the diet we chose is just too hard. A lot of the time though our problem can be all down to insufficient planning. Knowing you need to shed some pounds and you need a diet to do it is not enough. Your body and your head will be telling you to go back to your old ways because they were better and -- usually -- you’ll eventually give in.

A common mistake is to expect too much too soon. We start a diet and see good results for a week or two and then we seem to be standing still. Even though you may stick to the diet, the pounds seem to stick too.

The main reason that diets are hard is that you haven’t given your body a replacement for the foods that are bad for it…and the chances are you aren’t giving it enough activity to do in the first place, so it simply keeps telling you that you’re hungry.

So, do diets and dieting have to be hard – or can you find an easier way out?

Your best bet might be to take a different approach. How about if you found a way of getting round your diet and dieting issues by tricking your body (and your brain) into thinking that everything was A OK? What if you found a diet that gave your body so much work to do to burn calories that it didn’t have time to tell you that you are craving that candy bar or double chocolate muffin?

These options are possible. There are solutions out there that can get your body to work hard to help you with your diet…all you have to do is look. (or ask!)

Can You Lose Weight Easily And Permanently With Diet Pills? Will They Really Work?

If we’re honest with ourselves we’ll admit that we don’t like going on a diet…because it’s too much like hard work.

The very thought of starting a new diet, giving up the foods we actually really like eating and maybe backing all that up with regular visits to the gym is enough to make you exhausted before you even start!

This is one of the reasons that a lot of us don’t manage to see any significant gain from a diet.

Sure, we may start a lot of them but we give up way too easily and slip back into our old bad habits. We cheat a little bit here and we cheat a little bit there. Or, we might see some pounds disappear to start with before our weight plateaus and we lose heart and give up.

This can leave a lot of us in desperate straits. We really want to lose weight but know that the diets we’ve tried haven’t worked -- for whatever reason -- and we don’t know which way to turn next. So, for some of us the route we take is to try out diet pills. Some of these pills claim to do most of the work for you and to ‘encourage’ the fat not to appear in the first place. Sounds great!

So, do they work?

Well, we're not scientists or medical professionals, so really…what do we know?

But, to be brutally honest, if there was really a miracle pill out there that could help everyone lose weight we’d have heard about it by now…and we’d all be using it. Wouldn’t we?

Let’s be fair though…they’re not all dismal failures and most of them probably do achieve most of what they promise. They have to, or they’d be guilty of misleading advertising and fraud wouldn’t they?

Something to remember…some of the pills you can find nowadays might see you lose some weight to start with but the results might not last – so if you’re not careful, as soon as you finish your course of pills you could find yourself back to square one!

For some of us though, the pounds won’t shift at all with this kind of solution or they’ll drop off briefly, only to pile back on again later.

And given that we don’t actually even know that much about some of the newer diet pills and the long-term effects that they can have on us, diet pills may or may not be a sensible solution for you to look at. But, because we get desperate to get something that works, we sometimes simply have to give it a go.

Maybe, just maybe, it would be better to take a different tack.

You can lose weight easily and permanently without that elusive miracle diet pill and you don’t need to starve yourself. To be honest, you could simply change your eating habits to make your body work to lose weight for you and with you, so you wouldn’t have to make as much effort.

There are reliable solutions out there…so do some research on your options.




Do Diet Drinks Help Or Hinder When It Comes To Losing Weight?

The way that diet drinks or diet shakes work is simple.

Most of them are designed to be used as a meal replacement for one or more meals a day (depending on the drink you choose). They give you a variation or mix of protein, carbohydrates, nutrients, vitamins and minerals…and, most importantly for most dieters, they fill you up so you feel as if you’ve eaten, even though you technically haven’t.

There is plenty of evidence that these drinks & shakes can help you lose weight. The fact that you are getting nutrients without actually eating a meal can be useful and, if you combine them with a healthy weight loss diet program, you can actually see the pounds slip off way faster than you put them on!

Now this might sound great, but diet drinks won’t do everything for everyone.

Firstly, they are not designed to be used all of the time. They can be a great way of boosting a healthy diet to maximize the weight you lose, but, they shouldn’t be used over long periods. They are a great short term solution if you simply want to lose a few pounds in a few weeks but it’s not great for your health to carry on using diet drinks for an extended period.

So, if you want a short term fix then diet drinks may tick all your boxes.

There is one other problem to consider here as well however…you may, for example, be able to get into that bikini so you can hold your head up high at the beach, or you might be able to drop a couple of dress sizes to get into the dress you want to wear for a big party…but, what happens when you give up your diet drinks and go back to regular eating?

Fact is, even if you still stick to your weight loss diet, you’ll probably gain back some of that weight again. As soon as you start replacing the meals that the drinks allowed you to skip, the pounds will probably come back.

So, diet drinks might be a good way to lose some weight for a specific occasion or simply to kick-start your weight loss campaign to give you a flying start…but they may not suit you forever.

So use them the way they are meant to be used, and remember that at some point you’ll need to find other dieting solutions if you want to see longer term benefits.



Why Doesn’t Your Diet Deliver?

There are hundreds of different weight loss diet plans out there and some of them won’t work for YOU, despite the glowing claims they make. This doesn’t necessarily mean that all dieting plans are scams…far from it…it’s more that they might ask you to eat in a way that you and your body may not be able to keep up for long periods of time.

The reality is, if your diet doesn’t deliver, a lot of it can be down to the type of diet you choose. Sometimes they just won’t work…for you!

So, for example, you might try diet pills, a high protein diet, an apple cider vinegar diet, a fruit diet or a raw food diet. It doesn’t really matter what diet you try though, if it’s not right for you, it won’t deliver what you want. Bet that, if the diet’s not right for you, then you will see some results to start with, but I’ll also bet that the results you see at first won’t last.

A lot of dieting solutions in the market aren’t designed to give you long-lasting results. That’s not really a problem…they can be great if you just want a way to lose a few pounds fast.

Some diets don’t deliver longer term because of what they ask you to eat…just one food or food type. The point here is that eating a single type of diet food or trying a pill, shake or supplement solution makes you eat almost unnaturally. The minute you stop the diet plan and start eating a regular diet again, even if it is a perfectly healthy one, you’re most likely to find that the weight comes back on again. The results can be temporary.

To be honest this kind of diet plan won’t do much for you from a willpower perspective either. No-one really enjoys just drinking vegetable soup day after day!

The best way to stick with a diet is to find one that helps you lose weight and that doesn’t make you miserable on the way through. Some dieting solutions will simply leave you feeling hungry all of the time, while some will make you feel bloated and lethargic. And it doesn’t really matter what the effects are here -- if you don’t feel good about what you’re doing then you’ll simply stop doing it.

If you really want a long term diet solution that you can stick to and that doesn’t make you feel half-starved or ill, then that’s what you have to look for, and you will be able to find a weight loss diet to suit you and your goals. And, you might want to give some thought to how the diet will work in the long term as well as right now.
